Message from the President

Season’s Greetings to each of you! Jill and I have been blessed this year to lead our ASI NW Chapter. The Lord is active and alive through our membership! We’ve traveled to Peru to visit Paul and Sandi Opp’s ministry there! In person visits with GO, International Children’s Care, Light Bearer’s, Project PATCH (several appointments, and we spoke there at the Garden Valley location this Fall), In Search of One, Africa Orphan Care, and appointments with over 50 business leaders, all based here in the NW!

We’ve also been part of free dental and medical clinics in […]

Message from the President

About the time you receive this newsletter, hundreds of ASI members will be convening in Orlando, Florida to talk about ways we can all be more effective in reaching others with tangible help-ways we can provide substantive provisions for those in need. You see, the more we invest in people, the more authority we’ll have in their lives when we talk about the Gospel. We’ve been so heavy on proclamation, we’ve forgotten that we live in our communities, doing good, in the name of the Lord, but out of DISINTERESTED BENVOLENCE, we love others WHERE THEY […]

Black and White

All within a few chapters in the Bible, Jews were told not to kill in the 10 Commandments and then to kill off people groups as they moved toward the Promised Land. Imagine the debates that ensued. Imagine the posturing, intellectualizing and condescending laced comments. Imagine most of all, the infighting, hate and division. Millenniums later we are told that at one point, the Pharisees had made so many laws, it would take someone more than a lifetime to read through them, let alone do them. That’s a lot of law. Law, it could […]

Message from the President

It is truly remarkable how much misfortune some people have been through—terrible things—things we can’t even imagine. In the last month, I’ve spoken to two people who were victims of rape, sexed trafficked by their parents — one was five months old and another at the age of two. One of my good college friends told me of an earthquake decades ago in South America that killed thousands, and produced hundreds of orphans.  He was one of them. A high school classmate is fighting stage four breast cancer, she lost her husband a year ago to cancer, […]

Message from the President

The shooting in Las Vegas seemed far away to me. Watching on TV, the reports and eye witness accounts stunned me though. Why would someone do this to others?

Then an email came. An email from the site manager from one of our apartment complexes near Las Vegas. Several of our residents had been at the concert that night and while none of them were shot, several people they knew had been and some tragically were killed.

Two months before the shooting, I had Karen Nicola, of Comfort for the Day (a longtime friend and a new ASI […]

Message from the President

As president of the NW Chapter of ASI, you as either a member or officer of our organization, are always in my prayers that you know the peace of God in your life and have assurance in the plan He continues to unfold for each of us daily, in our businesses, ministries and other callings. Think with me for a moment about a phrase Jesus used often, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. What does that mean to you? To me, it means we can either be heaven or hell to those with whom we […]
